In order to bridge low power production times or to secure a smooth operation, Lithium Ion are the battery of choice in todays’ modern world. But Li-Ion batteries can be a safety hazard since they contain a flammable electrolyte, and if damaged or incorrectly charged can lead to explosions and fires. Once such a thermal runaway has started, almost nothing can stop the reactions.
Honeywell proudly introduces the Li-Ion Tamer Rack Monitor gas detection solution that enhances the safety of buildings where Li-Ion battery installations are in place. The Li-Ion Tamer Rack Monitoring system can provide an alert to “off-gas” events that occur early in the failure mode of Li-Ion batteries, well in advance of smoke detection and traditional LFL gas detection. Early warning of off-gas events enables proper mitigation steps to be taken to avoid progression to a catastrophic thermal runaway failure. The Li-Ion Tamer Rack Monitoring system is designed to be plug-and-play, easy to install and consists of just two primary components, (i) off-gas sensors and (ii) controllers.
